In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda and shortning. Add enough
water to make a medium stiff dough. Roll dough into a ball about 3" in
diameter. Pull dough into a 6" circle with fingertips. Do not use a rolling
pin. In a skillet, heat 1" cooking oil. When oil is hot, drop into skillet.
Brown bread on both both sides.
